Finally, an infographic worth reading! This one breaks down how men and women use social media sites. It’s good to know, especially when you are strategizing which tools to use to best reach your audience. Some of this you no doubt already know, but some of it is fresh and surprising.

And in case you aren’t an infographic person, we’ve pulled some of the most impressive stats for you:

  • 56% of all US social network users are female – that’s almost 81 million women
  • 2/3 of all users cute keeping in touch with their family as their main reason for using social networking sites
  • The two “main” social media sites are ruled by women – Twitter: 64%, Facebook: 58%
  • 18% of women update their Facebook status daily, as opposed to 11% of men
  • Obvious point: Pinterest is 82% women
  • Not so obvious point: Women make up 55% percent of the online gaming community
  • Men dominate sites like Reddit (84%), Google+ (71%), and LinkedIn (63%)
