It can be difficult to find the right strategy for your trade association. With the nature of associations being focused on one specific industry, it’s important to tailor your content to that specific audience. But, how can you do that on LinkedIn? Read below for some tips on how to use LinkedIn for thought leadership.

Establish a strategy

Your social media content is nothing without a solid strategy behind it. Grab your teammates and discuss a LinkedIn strategy you can implement that will focus on thought leadership. This plan should include post style, frequency, and content. Don’t forget to create content buckets to make sure you’re sticking to your topic. Blog posts, webinars, infographics, and more can all count as thought leadership content for your followers to read, engage with, and digest.

Focus on community

Community is a big component to creating a positive social media environment, especially on LinkedIn where most people turn to for professional advice or assistance in some way. Your first step in cultivating your community is to know who they are and what they want to see. Are they interested in your case studies? Do they want to attend more webinars? Where can you connect with your followers enough for them to click on your content and enjoy it? Use polls and ask questions in your LinkedIn content to better understand your audience. Filter through that feedback and create daily content that will promote community and thought leadership.

Post frequently

Post frequency is important on social media. The more you post, the more chances people will get to see and interact with your content. When it comes to thought leadership, it’s crucial to constantly be in the know and stay educated on your industry. Sharing new articles, ideas, and reports is an easy way to keep your followers in the loop and thinking about your trade association. Boost your post frequency by scheduling posts in advance so you don’t miss a beat, cutting out time to catch up on all of your industry news, and make it a habit to post daily to your LinkedIn page.

Social media will always be one of the easiest ways to spark conversations and increase thought leadership. Use LinkedIn to your advantage and connect with your trade association community in the best way possible.
