Welcome to this month’s edition of the social media recap where we discuss the latest happenings in social media. Here’s what happened in December.
Twitter announced the new “Sparkle” button which is available to all users. This will allow you to switch between a chronological and algorithmic timeline.
Instagram debuted a “Close friends” feature which will allow users to share more personal content with only people that they choose.
Facebook is releasing the Search ad placement option that they originally debuted in 2012. After seeing numbers that the daily searches on the platform had increased to 2 billion a day in 2016, Facebook decided this was an option they couldn’t pass up. Search ads will be available for a limited time while they test.
