It’s been a busy month on social media. Here’s what you may have missed:

Facebook reactionFacebook’s new “Like” button: Now you can be even more expressive with your feelings on Facebook. Instead of just “liking” a post or picture, this new update allows you to respond with Love, Haha, Wow, Sad and Angry. Facebook explained the new feature, called Reactions, in a blog post: We’ve been listening to people and know that there should be more ways to easily and quickly express how something you see in News Feed makes you feel. That’s why today we are launching Reactions, an extension of the Like button, to give you more ways to share your reaction to a post in a quick and easy way.

Facebook messengerFacebook might introduce ads into Messenger: A document that TechCrunch found apparently states that these new ads would relate to a discussion a user has already started and recommends that businesses start prompting consumers to message them so that they will be able to send them ads when the feature debuts. TechCrunch noted that businesses’ Messenger handles will be more easily searchable on Facebook if they maintain a high response rate. When Facebook was asked about this update, they declined to comment.

Twitter updateTwitter updated its algorithm: Twitter’s new algorithm will show on tweets and users it believes you’ll want to see first. Thus, tweets and users you interact with on a regular basis will show up first in your timeline. In other words, more priority will be given to what’s relevant instead of what’s recent. However, other than the timestamps on the tweets, your timeline likely won’t look all that different from before.

Snapchat adds Geofilters: Originally, Snapchat designed Community Geofilters for public places — but after getting feedback from users who wanted a more personalized option, the company has released On-Demand Geofilters. Now, you can create and publish a Geofilter for your party, wedding, business, or any other place or event. You can buy On-Demand Geofilters for an hour or up to thirty days! Pricing starts at $5, and depends on the size of your geofence and the time period you’ve chosen.
